Sadly for anyone with sinuses, it’s warming up outside and with Spring flowers comes a seemingly biblical amount of pollen. If you’re suffering through the current pollen plague, you’ll know that the only thing worse than living through it is having to clean up after it’s done.
Thankfully I’ve got exactly the right tool to help you out.
EGO POWER+, the battery-powered tool company with the in-your-face brand name has expanded their lineup yet again to include what might be the best tool they’ve ever produced.
Their new 3200 PSI Pressure Washer is compact, well thought out, and provides a beastly amount of cleaning power from just two 6.0Ah rechargeable lithium batteries. It sounds fairly mundane but there’s one very distinct advantage this setup provides.
No power cord.
While that should be obvious, if you’ve ever dragged a pressure washer around a patio or home, you know that wrangling a power cord, a power hose, and the hose for the wand itself is a Sisyphean effort that makes you want to put the pressure washer away and never touch it again.
Plus, no matter how long your power cord is, there always seems to be one spot that you just can’t reach. The EGO POWER+ Pressure Washer eliminates that worry, letting you work from anywhere—no generator required.
But I’m getting ahead of myself, let’s talk about the Pressure Washer itself. It’s a compact affair, about 2/3rds the height of your standard pressure washer. It has a telescopic handle so that it’s easy to roll around on two chunky wheels but also easy to store. One glance and you can tell who made it, it’s got that same chunky industrial aesthetic of EGO’s other power tools.
It also comes with a full complement of attachments. There’s the pressure gun (that you can use to monitor battery life and change modes…even if that connection is a bit fiddly to set up) which can use any of the nozzles: 15°, 25°, 40°, turbo, and rinsing. There’s a steel wand of course, but it’s optional. A nice touch if you’re detailing a vehicle and want to be able to get up close. There’s also a foam cannon, a bucket feed filter, and a siphon hose. The inclusion of bucket feed and car washing accessories are a nice touch for when you want to use the EGO Pressure Washer for something other than scouring your patio or walkway.
Operationally, it couldn’t be easier. Drop the batteries in, turn it on, connect your accessories, water source (via quick connection points), and start cleaning. It’s definitely loud but nowhere near the deafening whine of a standard pressure washer. Usually, after an hour of cleaning with a standard pressure washer, I need a break just to let my ears rest. The hum of the EGO POWER+ let me keep going.
Of course, that’s also because I had a couple of big, high-powered batteries from my mower (yes, like all EGO machines, the batteries are interchangeable). If you’ve ever used a pressure washer with a battery generator, you know that they’re thirsty. And while EGO has done a good job getting the most out of their batteries, the pressure washer still uses a lot of juice.
With the included 6.0Ah lithium batteries, you’ll get 60 minutes on Eco mode, half that on High, and only 15 minutes on Turbo. If you have a large area to clean, or plan on using the pressure washer for more than an hour, you’ll want to invest in larger batteries or pick up a Rapid Charger (the tool comes with a standard 320W charger).
However, for the standard weekend warrior who just needs to blast the accumulated pollen off their patio, the EGO POWER+ Pressure Washer does the job quickly and easily. You can set it up and break it down quickly and it won’t wake up the neighbors, so you can get the job done before it gets hot out.
However, all this pressure washer refinement will cost you. The EGO POWER+ 3200 PSI Pressure Washer, with two 6.0Ah lithium batteries, runs $799. The good news is that, if you already have EGO POWER+ batteries (at least 5.0Ah), you can get just the tool itself for $499. It’s more than your standard pressure washer but it also provides a better experience.
