Smart ring maker Ultrahuman has announced a new version of its wearable, one made in partnership with fashion brand Diesel.
The Diesel Ultrahuman Ring takes the tech of the standard Ultrahuman Air Ring and gives it a stylistic remodel, with a chunkier embossed outer design. And that outer layer is made of titanium, just like that of the Ultrahuman Air Ring.
Its style is attributed to Glenn Martens, Diesel’s Creative Director, and comes with a notable bump in cost, at £469 for UK buyers. The Ultrahuman Ring Air costs £329.
U.S. pricing is not available at present as Ultrahuman is currently barred from selling its rings in the country, owing to a patent infringement claim by rival Oura, one that ended in Oura’s favor following a verdict from the International Trade Commission (ITC).
There are two finishes for the Diesel Ultrahuman Ring. There’s a “distressed black” Phantom style, where the silver base shows through a deliberately aged-looking black paint job. Cryo is a cleaner and shinier-looking silver finish.
The pattern on the ring’s exterior represents two takes on the stylised “D” of the Diesel logo, one facing the other. And it’s repeated around the ring’s outer.
Its weight varies between 2.9g and 4.1g depending on the ring size, which is only fractionally heavier than the Ultrahuman Air Ring. That base smart ring weights 2.4-3.6g. Both models are available in ring sizes 5 to 14.
Features remain consistent with Ultrahuman’s existing smart rings. The Diesel Ultrahuman Ring has an optical heart rate sensor with red LEDs for blood oxygen saturation monitoring, 6-axis motion sensor and a temperature sensor.
This combo allows for all the usual smart ring stats. A Diesel Ultrahuman Ring provides sleep tracking, HRV readings, heart rate and more.
No subscription is required, but Ultrahuman does offer what it calls PowerPlug add-ons for additional metrics. These include cycle/ovulation tracking (£29.99 a year), atrial fibrillation detection (£49.99 a year), and there’s also an accidental damage protection plan (£36 a year).
The Ultrahuman Diesel Ring is available to order now across the UK, EU, India and other territories, but there’s no update on when or if the company will be able to sell in the U.S. again.
This is not the first time a wearable with Diesel branding has been released. The first Diesel Wear OS watch was released in 2017, and its parent company Fossil was one of the most prolific names in the business until it signalled its exit from the Wear OS watch market in 2024.
