The EA College Football 25 looks to be a rousing success critically and, I’d guess, monetarily as well. It would be a shock if it isn’t the highest-selling game released in July.
We’ll wait on the numbers to confirm that, but we know the game has an 88 Metacritic score on PlayStation 5. I reviewed it here.
Recently, EA posted its planned post-launch updates, which will eventually touch every feature in the game.
Here is a breakdown of what aspects will be targeted.
Improved Accuracy With Rosters and Likenesses
According to EA, some teams’ rosters contain inaccuracies, and multiple likenesses need to be updated. This sort of issue is expected with so many players in the game. It will be interesting to see how deep the team goes with correcting likenesses for players throughout the nation.
I wanted to know whether there would be roster updates, and EA confirmed the first one would come around the start of the college football season, which begins on August 24.
That’s a long time, and many of us might be two or three seasons into our dynasty modes by then, but it’ll still be good to see the rosters refreshed.
Another question I had was whether we’d see player ratings go up and down. EA confirmed that as well in their recent note to users.
That’s excellent news, as it will make the product more of a living and breathing companion piece to the real-life sport.
Presentation Fixes
EA’s team is aware of incorrect commentary and missing chants for some schools. This is on their radar, but it is unclear when all of these issues will be fixed.
All of the fixes could be a part of a season kickoff patch.
Dynasty mode is the mode that is causing the biggest problems for some users. It’s definitely playable offline, but many users are having issues entering and setting up online dynasties.
Within the dynasty, the Super Sim logic needs some tuning. Far too many Cinderella squads are finding their way into the national championship. I saw a Fresno State vs. Washington national championship in one of my sims.
EA announced immediate plans to address those issues. A fix is supposed to handle the issue of users getting into online dynasties, but some in the comment section of EA’s blog are reporting more problems since the fix was deployed.
Road to Glory Check-In and Looking Ahead to the Patch
Road to Glory is drawing the least criticism and complaints. Users are primarily finding it challenging to be successful as a quarterback, especially if you’re playing as a two-star athlete.
I can attest to the difficulty in that part of the game. However, I’m embracing the challenge while registering some pretty hideous games in my college career.
