Who Is The EA FC 27 Cover Athlete?
Mbappe takes the Ultimate Edition cover and the EA Sports FC Mobile cover. EA confirmed it across its official channels Tuesday morning.

While France couldn’t bring home the World Cup trophy — despite Mbappe’s heroics — the 27-year-old’s return to the cover of the world’s biggest soccer title is something of a win for France, Mbappe and his club Real Madrid.
The résumé backs the placement. He won the 2026 Golden Boot with 10 goals, became the first player to take the award in consecutive World Cups, and now sits as the tournament’s all-time leading scorer with 22. He also took the 2025-26 Champions League Golden Boot and finished as LALIGA’s top scorer in each of his two seasons at Real Madrid.
Jeff Sharma, EA Sports’ VP of Franchise Strategy and Marketing, told IGN Middle East that Mbappe’s club and country work has established him as one of the defining players of his generation.
Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are aging out of the cover rotation and EA needs the next face locked down. Mbappe could be the man here for a few more years to come. The same succession question hangs over NASCAR 26’s cover athlete announcement and every other annual sports title.
When Is The EA FC 27 Release Date?
EA has not announced one.
The date circulating is September 25, 2026, with early access opening September 18 for Ultimate Edition buyers and EA Play subscribers. That comes from a Dealabs report by billbil-kun, a leaker with an unusually strong record on release dates, platforms and pricing.
It also fits the pattern. FC 26 launched September 26, 2025, with early access a week out. A late-September Friday is where this franchise always lands.
None of that makes it official. EA has confirmed a cover and a reveal date and nothing else, which is the same gap that ran through the GTA 6 price leaks earlier this year.
When Does The EA FC 27 Reveal Trailer Drop?
Thursday, July 23, on YouTube. EA attached the premiere link to the same post that carried the cover.
Last year’s reveal is the template for what Thursday should contain. FC 26 dropped its trailer on July 16, 2025 with first-look gameplay, the standard-edition cover athletes and the launch date in the same package.
That last item is the one to watch. If EA follows its own playbook, September 25 stops being a leak on Thursday.
