G2 Esports Raises Seven-Figure Series B Round, Adds Big-Name Investors

G2 Esports has successfully closed a seven-figure Series B investment round, bringing new investors into the organization. With it, G2 looks to mark its tenth anniversary by expanding its operations across more games.

Big additions to G2’s ownership team and shareholder base include WISE Ventures, the investment arm of the Wilf family, which owns the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings, Orlando City SC (MLS), and Pride (NWSL); real estate development company Garden Homes; entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk; and The Tornante Company, the investment arm of former Paramount Pictures and Walt Disney Company CEO Michael Eisner.

The capital will be used to support G2’s global expansion, entry into new esports titles, and enhancement of its direct-to-fan offerings. Funds will also be allocated to the Call of Duty League (CDL) following G2’s acquisition of Minnesota Rokkr’s CDL slot from Version1. G2 originally obtained operational rights to the team in late 2023 through a strategic partnership with Version1, which is owned by the Wilf family.

Existing investors also increased their contributions, including:

  • Jens Hilgers (Founder of Bitkraft and ESL);
  • Al Tylis (part-owner of MX Liga’s Club Necaxa);
  • Wrexham AFC (the Welsh football club famously owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney);
  • DC United (Major League Soccer, DC Pickleball); and
  • Bluepool (owner of the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets and the WNBA’s New York Liberty.

G2 CEO Alban Dechelotte was keen to emphasize the company’s financial strength, and said: “This successful investment round and the addition of our new investors showcases G2’s strength and value as an organization.

“This year is our 10th anniversary, and looking back over the last decade, we’ve not only built a globally successful brand with teams that are consistently on top but also we’ve built a valuable business that’s been profitable for multiple years.”

New investor Konrad von Moltke, principal of WISE Ventures, was confident in G2’s future and added: “Since getting to know G2’s management team in early 2023, we have continued to be impressed with their strategic vision, work ethic, operational excellence, and communication. We are thrilled to be partnering with G2 on their next stage of growth.”

Jonathan Wilf, controlling owner of Version1, emphasized the connection between the two organizations, and said: “G2 and Version1 are a natural fit. We are fully invested in the future of esports – our partnership with G2 and our investment in this funding round is a testament to that. We are excited to build on the legacy of Version1 and can’t wait to bring more championships to G2’s global fanbase.”

G2 now boasts over 100 first-place finishes across major titles, including League of Legends, Counter-Strike 2, Valorant, Sim Racing, and Rainbow Six Siege. It also maintains brand partnerships with Mastercard, Red Bull, Ralph Lauren, and Oakley. Throughout 2025, G2 plans to mark its anniversary with exclusive events, new merchandise collaborations, and a number of content releases.
