Google’s new Black Friday deals include some of the best prices for the Pixel 9 series yet.
Google has discounted almost all of its flagship devices, including wearables and tablets, in the new sale. The Search company has combined discounts, freebies, cashback and a price match guarantee to entice Pixel 9 shoppers away from Best Buy and Amazon, which are offering better prices if you want to buy the handset without any extras.
Let’s start with the price cuts.
- $150 off the Pixel 9, bringing the price down to $659.
- $150 off the Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL, bringing the price down to $899.
- $300 off the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, bringing the price down to $1,499.
For the base Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro, that discount matches the $150 voucher Google was gifting to Google One subscribers earlier this month. But it doesn’t match the huge 31% discount Amazon offered two weeks ago for the base Pixel 9, nor Best Buy’s current $799 offer for the 128GB Pixel 9 Pro.
What is interesting, and something I haven’t seen from Google before, is that the company will price match from “selected retail partners” if shoppers find a better deal elsewhere.
Those stores are Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, B&H and Signifi. You will have to fill in a refund request form after the item is bought, and it has to be the same model, but shoppers should be able to get the difference back. If you successfully do this, let me know.
Google is hoping that the price match, alongside a 10% money-back store credit for Google One subscribers, is enough to tempt shoppers away from rivals. It is also giving away one year of Google One AI premium cloud storage, six months of Fitbit Premium and three months of YouTube Premium.
The free cloud storage is a good deal, although I’m not entirely sure how many people need access to Gemini Advanced. You will be able to find free trials for YouTube Premium and Fitbit Premium at other times throughout the year. This part of the deal is not exclusive to Black Friday.
The company has also upped trade-in prices, but they’re not particularly impressive when measured against what Samsung will pay for your old phone. However, Google does have the best prices for old Pixel phones, including paying $540 for the Pixel Pixel 7 Pro and $450 for the Pixel 6 Pro.
The combination of enhanced trade-in prices (even if they don’t compare to Samsung), 10% money back, Google One subscription, price match and overall discount make Google’s offer worth a serious glance. Even if you don’t need extras, Google’s price match promise is a powerful offer.
