Wondering what a virtual assistant with the gift of gab might be? Not sure what honey animal “don’t care” in a meme? Don’t worry, because I’m here to help you with some extra clues and the answers for today’s NYT Mini crossword.
The NYT Mini is a quick and dirty version of the newspaper’s larger and long-running crossword. Most days, there are between three and five clues in each direction on a five by five grid, but the puzzles are sometimes larger, especially on Saturdays.
Unlike its larger sibling, the NYT Mini crossword is free to play on the New York Times website or NYT Games app. However, you’ll need an NYT Games subscription to access previous puzzles in the archives.

I’m very happy with that time for a Saturday Mini!
I messed up with the first two answers, thinking they were “love” and “blast” at first. I missed SOLD ON, but got the rest of the Across clues on my first pass.
Those initial errors slowed me down with the Down answers, though I got all of them except for ALL THAT, which I was able to square away once I returned to the Across clues.
I was felt very uneasy once I figured out the GHATGPT answer. For many reasons, it feels a little gross that the chatbot was used to generate this clue. For what it’s worth, The New York Times is currently suing ChatGPT’s maker OpenAI and one of the company’s key investors, Microsoft, for alleged copyright infringement. The newspaper has accused the companies of using millions of its articles to train the large language model that powers ChatGPT without first obtaining permission from the NYT.
