The birds are chirping. The sun is slowly drifting down in the west over the sea. Another day is dying so that tomorrow can be born. Time marches on, though these days, as I travel across a distant land in a very different time-zone, the march feels more like a drunkard’s dance. What day is it now? Thursday already? Why just yesterday it was Wednesday! And with all that out of the way, we have a puzzle to solve and words to uncover!
Strands is the newest game in the New York Times’ stable of puzzle games. It’s a fun twist on classic word search games. Every day we’re given a new theme and then tasked with uncovering all the words on the grid that fit that theme, including a spangram that spans two sides of the board, revealing more about the rest of the words on the grid.

Today’s Strands Breakdown
Finally, a genuinely challenging Strands! I really struggled with this one. Each word was long and difficult to uncover. Even when I was down to one theme word and the spangram, I could not for the life of me uncover either. I mean, eventually I did, once I found PROTECTOR, but TAKECARE was ridiculously hard to find and still kind of feels . . . bad as a spangram, to be honest. Still, a very challenging and rewarding Strands grid today. Best I’ve seen in a long time.
