Another day, another Strands grid to solve. More words to uncover. Yesterday’s was very tricky and today’s, while not quite as challenging, is still a fun one. The spangram is particularly clever.
Strands is the newest game in the New York Times’ stable of puzzle games. It’s a fun twist on classic word search games. Every day we’re given a new theme and then tasked with uncovering all the words on the grid that fit that theme, including a spangram that spans two sides of the board. One of these words is the spangram which crosses from one side of the grid to another and reveals even more about the day’s theme.
Spoilers ahead.

Today’s Strands Breakdown
I actually found CRANKY and SURLY almost instantly, but the rest of the puzzle was a bit more difficult to uncover. I checked my corners and found GRUMPY, but I wouldn’t find any of the others until after the spangram. I tried CROSS and when that didn’t work I figured it must be part of the spangram. Sure enough, CROSSWORD (very clever) fit the bill. From here, VEXED and PEEVED were easy enough to spot, then finally TOUCHY and last, but not least, IRKED. Now get off my lawn you darn kids!
