How To Repurpose Content For All Your Social Media Platforms

Creating content takes time, energy, and practice. Whether you’re a full-time creator or a part-time influencer, if you’re creating content, you know how much work it takes before you hit publish on Instagram or TikTok. While everyone’s content creation process may look different, every creator knows it takes some intention to brainstorm, document, film, edit, select music, and post on social media platforms.

I encourage all creators, new or established, full-time or part-time, to repurpose their content for all their social media platforms. Reusing content maximizes a piece of content’s (written, audio, or visual) reach online. Repurposing or recycling content can help all creators work smarter and save time.

Here are five ways to repurpose content for all your social media platforms:

1. Use The Same Videos You’ve Filmed For TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts, etc.

I recommend saving to your camera roll (not inside the apps) so you can use those videos for all your social media platforms. You can share short-form video content on:

• Reels – Instagram
• Instagram stories
• Pinterest pins
• TikTok/TikTok stories
• YouTube Shorts

You can edit your short-form videos on video editing apps like CapCut, Splice, InShot, or Adobe

Premier Rush. When you export your videos and upload them to a social media platform, you can still ensure the video looks native to that platform by using the platform’s specific fonts.

2. Turn Previous Blog Posts Into Instagram Captions.

If you’ve invested in and already created long-form content, you can repurpose it into written and visual (photo and video) posts for your social media platforms.

Here are a few examples of repurposing blog content:

• If you have older blog posts sharing holiday recipes, you can turn them into roundup videos or posts on Instagram, TikTok, or Pinterest.
• If you write a blog post sharing seven wedding guest dress ideas, you can turn it into seven different Instagram posts.
• Suppose you have a blog post sharing five gardening tips for beginners. You can repurpose those five tips into five TikTok videos.
• You can update old blog posts with relevant data or share what has changed since you wrote them.

3. Repurpose Instagram Captions Into LinkedIn Posts.

If you’re a creator starting to explore LinkedIn this year, you don’t need to create brand-new content for another platform. You can repurpose your Instagram posts for LinkedIn. LinkedIn is no longer just a recruiting and hiring tool. LinkedIn is a dynamic social media platform with much potential for creators to connect with potential brands and agencies.

Suppose you’re ready to start posting on LinkedIn. In that case, you can take previous Instagram posts and either edit or reword the content to publish on LinkedIn. I recommend using Grammarly to edit and update those previous Instagram captions for LinkedIn.

4. Reuse Seasonal Content For The Next Year.

If you’ve created holiday-focused content (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Halloween, etc.), you can reuse it for the following year. Creating seasonal content takes time, curation, and energy.

You can always repost previous videos and photos the following year when it’s time for that season.

Here are a few ways to repurpose seasonal content:

• Create a roundup post on Instagram or Pinterest. If you’ve shared previous holiday activities, outfits, recipes, etc., you can refresh your seasonal content with a roundup post for the season.
• Create a preview of what to expect this upcoming season. Suppose you’re a creator who highlights things to do in their city. In that case, you can always use the content shared last year as a new video on TikTok, YouTube Shorts, or an in-feed post on Instagram.
• Reshare your top-performing seasonal posts from the previous year on other platforms. If you had an Instagram reel or TikTok video perform well during the holiday season, I’d encourage you to reshare that short-form video again on Instagram Stories, YouTube Shorts, or Pinterest.

5. Use Graphics Across All Your Social Media Platforms

Many creators create graphics using Canva or Adobe Photoshop. You can also screenshot Tweets, Threads, or Instagram story replies and use them as graphics. You can repurpose any graphic for all your social media platforms, website, or email newsletter.
