Riot Games has released the patch notes for League of Legends update 14.22 and the biggest changes this week are coming to the ARAM game mode, and there’s the launch of brand-new champion Ambessa just in time for the release of Arcane Season Two.
With the patch being very much Arcane themed, the promised ARAM overhaul is here to celebrate the new season. The ARAM map is being transformed into the Bridge of Progress from the show, and there are brand-new visuals, quests, and gameplay twists to experience. The images that have been released so far look very cool if you are a fan of Arcane, so I’m actually looking forward to playing this.
The other big addition is the release of new champion Ambessa, who is also part of the Arcane celebrations. She’s obviously an iconic character from the first season and looks set to feature more in the second, which is due to launch in a few days. However, when on the Rift, she looks to be a very mobile top laner who can theoretically move in some way with every one of her abilities.
When it comes to the more usual patch note changes, there are a few changes worth knowing about. Now the mid lane and side lane minions will desync their meet timing in the lane more as the game goes on, which should increase the ability for mid laners to roam into side lanes for a gank while they’re still clearing their wave.
Warwick is also getting a lot of love, with an increase to his model size and a ton of quality of life improvements. Then, just in time for Arcane, Vi also gets a bit of a buff, which I’m sure is entirely coincidental and not targeted to make her more viable when the show launches.
The full patch notes also include some item changes and changes to a lot of the summoner spells, so they are worth a read. But, I expect many LoL players will be in the same boat as me where I need a bit of a LoL break after Worlds and before Arcane season two hits, so going any more in depth feels like a bit of a tough task right now! That being said, I know that as soon as the first few episodes of Arcane season two hit I’ll be back into the world of LoL instantly and ready to jump back into the rift for some games.
