Mouse and keyboard behemoth Logitech has announced another new product in its range of USB conference cameras. Logitech meet2 is a new bring-your-own-device system that can be used in small meeting rooms and huddle areas where employees use their laptops for Zoom and Team meetings.
The Meet2 is a next-generation USB camera, speakers and microphone that has evolved from Logitech’s original MeetUp model, the bestselling conference camera in Logitech’s history which has already notched up sales of more than one million units worldwide.
With the increasing use of huddle rooms, Logitech says there is a need for video conferencing technology that’s flexible enough to be used in flexible ways, whether that’s in a dedicated PC-based setup or with employees using their laptops to hook up to a camera and screen.
Logitech has been using AI-enhanced features in conference room devices to create meetings that focus on the participants and offer deeper engagement among meeting colleagues without the need for manual controls to zoom in on speakers. The new MeetUp 2 now also has these intelligent features to create more productive meetings.
Henry Levak is VP of Product at Logitech B2B division: “Logitech MeetUp 2 brings the power of AI with RightSight 2 to create dynamic views that draw remote users into the virtual meeting and RightSound 2 for advanced voice equalization and noise suppression. On the backend, IT teams can remotely monitor the devices and push out software updates to continuously make MeetUp 2 smarter over time.
RightSight is an AI-driven video feature that’s a little like having a studio director in the meeting room. The camera can zoom in on speakers, producing a more connective experience and ensuring no one is sidelined. AI technology automatically focuses and frames in-room participants.
For improved audio clarity, RightSound 2 also uses AI-based algorithms that can balance voices and filter out unwanted noises, while also reducing reverberation in a meeting room. MeetUp 2 works with popular platforms like Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Google Meet.
Users can access features like Zoom Rooms Smart Gallery, which creates individual feeds of in-room participants. The MeetUp 2 also works with Microsoft’s Intelliframe, which automatically places participants in frames to make everyone equally visible.
MeetUp 2 is designed for up to six people in a small conference room and offers the flexibility of deploying with USB and an in-room computer device or employee’s laptop. These Bring Your Own Device setups mean users connect their laptop or mobile device to the MeetUp 2 using the optional Logitech Active USB Cable. Meanwhile, IT departments can monitor a room’s status, deploy any updates and modify settings over Ethernet or Wi-Fi with Logitech Sync.
When MeetUp 2 is not being used for a meeting, the conference room screen can display digital signage with custom content like a company logo or space usage instructions using Logitech Sync and AppSpace software.
One area that Logitech is hot on is sustainability. The company has gone a long way in recent years to reduce its environmental impact by using recycled plastic and zero-carbon materials produced with renewable power.
Buyers of IT equipment are demanding equipment with a lower environmental impact. Logitech says MeetUp 2 was developed using Design for Sustainability principles, a framework that guides product teams toward lower-impact and more circular design solutions.
MeetUp 2 replaces virgin plastic parts with post-consumer recycled plastic, lowering its carbon footprint and giving a second life to end-of-use plastic from old consumer electronics. The plastic parts in MeetUp 2 contain 62% recycled plastic, the highest percentage on the market today. By using recycled plastic, MeetUp 2’s design saves 15.5t of CO2 per 10,000 units, enabling IT tech buyers to lower their company’s Scope 3 indirect emissions.
To encourage other brands to adopt DfS, Logitech shares its knowledge about how to integrate Next Life recycled plastic into the manufacturing process. MeetUp 2 is also packaged in paper sourced from FSC-certified forests and other controlled sources.
Pricing & Availability: MeetUp 2 is part of Logitech’s existing lineup of conference room cameras. The price for MeetUp 2 is $899 / £849 / €999 and it’s available globally through authorized distributors and from the Logitech website.
