Logitech’s Casa Pop-Up Desk Lets You Work Almost Anywhere

It’s probably fair to say that the pandemic did a huge amount to promote and accelerate the habit of working from home. And while many of us have returned to our office for some of the week, a large percentage of knowledge workers still spend a fair amount of time toiling from home.

One side-effect of this change in how we work has been the development of new products that boost our productivity whether we are working from our kitchen table or sitting in the corner of our local coffee shop. To help with this new way of working, Logitech has created an innovative product called Casa Pop-Up Desk.

The Casa Pop-Up Desk is now available in North America, having been launched in the UK, Australia and New Zealand last year. Perhaps the choice of launch markets is an indication that the home working concept is more advanced in English-speaking countries. Casa Pop-Up Desk is a portable desk for laptop users and includes a wireless keyboard and touchpad, stored inside something that looks a little like a Japanese Bento box.

The box transforms into an ergonomic laptop stand that’s designed for use in the home or wherever else you might decide to set up your temporary office. The box transforms into a laptop stand to create a more comfortable, ergonomic and productive workspace. Stowed away inside the box is a compact wireless keyboard and touchpad.

“Casa Pop-Up Desk marked a new venture for Logitech, catering to the different workspace needs as people navigate working in their home environment more than in the past,” claims Joseph Mingori, general manager of mobile solutions and partnerships in Personal Workspace Solutions at Logitech.

“The resounding success of its launch in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand last year has propelled Casa’s expansion into North America, where we see an escalating demand for a much-needed all-in-one solution that can work in your home or your office environment if you have shared workspace.”

When not in use, the Casa Pop-Up Desk is used to stow away the keyboard and touchpad, plus there’s also a small compartment for storing the charging cable and other knickknacks like a USB memory stick or stationery. It all packs down into an object that’s no larger than a slim filing box.

Casa Keys is a wireless keyboard offering a marked improvement over the keyboard on most laptops. The keys have legends for both Windows and macOS operating systems and include media and function keys that you’d find on most full-sized keyboards.

Casa Touch is an intuitive touchpad that uses Click Anywhere technology for smooth pointer control and supports time-saving gestures compatible with multiple operating systems. The two devices connect wirelessly to the host laptop over Bluetooth and the free Logi Options+ app can be used to personalize how each device behaves.

Casa Pop-Up Desk works with PCs, Macs and tablets. Both Casa Keys and Touch can connect with up to three separate devices which can be switched with the press of a key or button. When not in use, everything packs away in its compartment and the box is small enough to fit in a bag or stow away in a desk drawer.

The Casa Pop-Up Desk is available in three colors: Nordic Calm (sand/off-white), Bohemian Blush (rose), and Classic Chic (deep green/graphite). Like all of Logitech’s products, a lot of thought has gone into reducing the environmental impact of the product. All materials used to make the Casa Pop-Up Desk are carefully sourced and certified as carbon neutral. Even the packaging is plastic-free and made with paper sourced from FSC-certified forests.

The plastic parts used in the Casa Pop-Up Desk include certified post-consumer recycled plastic that gives a second life to end-of-use plastic from old consumer electronics. There’s a minimum of 62% recycled plastic in the Casa Touch, 47% in the Casa Keys and 44% in the Casa Book. Logitech appears to be leading the way on sustainability in the computer peripherals market now. It’s good to see.

Verdict: The Logitech Casa Pop-Up Desk is a great example of how the terrible aspect of the pandemic spurred on innovation and helped to develop new products that enable us to work in new ways. The Casa Pop-Up Desk is an ingenious idea with a high-quality and compact keyboard, plus a very usable trackpad all packaged in a handy laptop stand that doubles as a storage case. If you work on the road or need to set up a temporary office at home, then the Casa Pop-Up Desk is an ideal solution.

Pricing & Availability: Logitech’s Casa Pop-Up Desk is available to buy in North America from Logitech and its authorized resellers. The recommended retail price is $179.99.
