Press reports can help us to know exactly when the next iPhones will go on sale. Here’s the news on the latest analysis that can be trusted, and how it could be just days until we can be near-certain of what’s coming when.
Apple’s biggest event of the year, the release of the iPhone 17 series, is just weeks away — well, it’s always September (pandemic year apart), so that’s not exactly great intel. But in just over one week, we’ll have enough information to know exactly when the iPhones will go on sale. Analysis is becoming more widespread, with key sources adding considered opinions.
The truth is that, unless there’s an upset, the iPhone 17 series, plus new Apple Watches, will go on sale in the week after the keynote. So, as soon as we know the keynote date, the rest of the schedule falls into place with the dull glow of inevitability.
Leading tech journalist Sean Keach from U.K. newspaper The Sun has just published his own thoughts, in a post headed, “I’m convinced I know exact iPhone 17 release date WEEKS before big Apple reveal – and I guessed last year’s right too.”
I am, of course, too modest to add, you and me both, Sean.
“Apple usually shows off its blockbuster iPhone for the year in September. It’s typically in the first half of the month on a Tuesday or Wednesday,” Keach says.
“I’m guessing that the iPhone 17 launch will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 9,” Keach believes, and that chimes with what I’ve been saying since July.
“Working backwards… I’d guess that Apple will announce its event via invitations on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2025,” Keach believes. I agree. I’ll go further and suggest you look out for an announcement of the keynote date at around 8 a.m Pacific, 11 a.m. Eastern, 4 p.m U.K. on that day
As soon as that announcement is made, everything else falls into place. It means, if it is Sept. 9, that pre-orders will open on Friday, Sept. 12 and the phones and watches will go on sale on Friday, Sept. 19.
Keach echoes these dates. Of course, we could both be wrong, but the addition of a respected writer (with a history of accurate predictions) with the exact same dates helps cement their likelihood.
