Not to be outdone by recent Samsung and Google sales, OnePlus has slashed the price of its OnePlus Open foldable phone with a new discount.
The foldable phone is $200 cheaper when shoppers use the code “PUMPKIN” at checkout. OnePlus is going all out because it is also giving away a free OnePlus Pad, or a OnePlus Nord, with all Open purchases.
Trade-in prices have been temporarily boosted for this sale, but if shoppers don’t have a used device to hand over OnePlus will knock a further $100 off the final price. That equals at least a $600 discount of freebies or straight money-off the handset when everything is added up.
The bad news is that the trade-in prices don’t match up to Samsung’s numbers. For example, OnePlus values the Galaxy S22 Ultra at $410 for the 1024GB model whereas, Samsung will pay $800 for it. Similarly OnePlus will fork out $652 for an unlocked Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max with 1024GB of storage, but Samsung values the same device at $900.
Where OnePlus does beat the competition is in prices for OnePlus handsets. Samsung doesn’t have a category for OnePlus devices; instead, it offers a flat $500 discount for shoppers without a used phone to hand over. This is more than OnePlus will offer for most of its own devices. Google does accept OnePlus phones for trade-in but the valuations don’t match the Chinese company’s prices.
More OnePlus Discounts
Almost all other OnePlus devices have been discounted, or are paired with a free gift. Purchases of the OnePlus 12 come with a free Nord N30 or OnePlus Watch 2R. The OnePlus 11 is $100 cheaper, while the Nord N30 has been discounted by $30 and comes with buds or wired headphones.
The OnePlus sale means that Google, Samsung and the Chinese company are currently running sales that shouldn’t be sniffed at. OnePlus has the best freebie deals, but Samsung’s trade-in prices remain unbeatable. Google is yet to discount its Pixel 9 range, instead opting to boost trade-in prices moderately.
Despite the free gifts, the OnePlus 12 remains at full price. I imagine this will change during the Black Friday sales next month and as we move closer to the OnePlus 13 launch, which will happen in China next week and a global launch potentially scheduled for early next year.
