The trailer for the ninth season of Overwatch 2 has just dropped. Given that Blizzard already revealed the major competitive changes back at BlizzCon, there aren’t too many surprises here. However, we do get our first look at some new skins (including this season’s Mythic) and a fresh limited-time mode.
Moira is the recipient of the Season 9 Mythic skin. It’s called Ancient Caller Moira. Like some the other Battle Pass skins featured in the trailer, it’s an Eldritch Horror-themed look. I’m digging it. Looking forward to adding it to my collection.
In addition, you’ll be able to check out the latest co-op event mode, Cosmic Crisis. It appears that an alien has crash landed onto Antarctic Peninsula. That seems like something our cast of heroes will have to deal with.
Elsewhere, there was a refresher on some of the major changes coming to the Competitive modes, including an easier way to track your progress as you rank up (or down). In addition, there are Jade weapon cosmetics to unlock and a new top rank above Grandmaster called Champion. Blizzard will also be conducting a full rank reset for everyone. Moreover, every hero will have a self-healing passive ability and a co-op Hero Mastery mode is on the way this season.
Last, but not least, as teased at the end of the trailer, a Cowboy Bebop collab is in the pipeline.
Overwatch 2 Season 9: Champions starts on February 13. There are many other changes coming next season, so stay tuned for details.
