Patchy Mix has hit some tough times professionally. Ever since he was granted his release from PFL/Bellator, things have gone downhill. Mix had two fights in the UFC and lost them both. Most recently, Mix just missed weight by a whopping 6.3 pounds ahead of his scheduled fight against Shoko Sato on a RIZIN card. Let’s talk MMA.

Patchy Mix Key Facts

  • Weigh-in: 63.85 kg / 140.8 lbs, against a 61 kg / 134.5 lb bantamweight limit
  • Miss: 6.3 pounds
  • Event: RIZIN 54, Tuesday, August 11, Toyota Arena Tokyo
  • Opponent: Shoko Sato, 38-17-2
  • Mix’s record: 20-4
  • Consequence: Cannot win. RIZIN converts wins by overweight fighters to no-contests.
  • Bout status: Demoted from co-main event
  • Card headliner: Kleber Koike Erbst vs. Kyoma Akimoto, featherweight

Mix was not the only one to miss. Alibek Gadzhammatov came in 3.85 pounds over for his flyweight bout with Yuki Ito.

Under RIZIN rules, a fighter who misses weight cannot be awarded a victory — any win is automatically converted to a no-contest. Mix’s three-fight skid cannot end tomorrow no matter what he does in the ring. The promotion also stripped the bout of its co-main event slot after the weigh-in, per MMA Fighting.

Mix, 32, has lost three fights in a row. His last loss came under the RIZIN banner in March to Kyoma Akimoto. Needless to say, a loss to Sato, especially after missing weight so widely, Mix’s career will be in serious danger.

When Mix signed with the UFC, his debut in June 2025 at UFC 316 against Mario Bautista was an opportunity for the former Bellator champion to prove he was capable of competing in the world’s premier MMA organization.

Mix put on a lackluster performance in that fight losing a clear unanimous decision. He was equally listless against lower competition in his split-decision loss to Jakub Wiklacz in October 2025. That loss led to the UFC releasing him.

The stoppage loss to Akimoto and the weight miss puts him into an all-out freefall.

Patchy Mix’s three-fight losing streak
