TCL’s Eco-Friendly NXTVision TVs Feature New Material Made From Ceramic Waste—And A Tea Leaf Remote

TCL’s Eco-Friendly NXTVision TVs Feature New Material Made From Ceramic Waste—And A Tea Leaf Remote

TCL’s NXTVision TVs immediately stand out from today’s bustling TV crowd thanks to their striking painting-like design concept, complete with flush wall mount, off-white and wood-effect bezel options, curated library of digital art, and an Ultra Matte Anti-Glare Screen that removes practically all trace of the sort of reflections of bright objects in your room you’d expect to see on a regular TV screen. TCL has now also revealed, though, that its NXTVision TVs have a further unique highlight tucked away inside their sleek, artistic designs: A new eco-friendly hardware material made entirely from upcycled ceramic waste and plastic that TCL believes is the first of its kind.

Apparently inspired by ancient Chinese culture, TCL’s new ECORA material is a composite notable for its superior durability, surface hardness and premium finish – which is why the design-led NXTVision TVs were considered the perfect TVs for ECORA to make its debut on.

The ceramic waste that’s upcycled to make TCL ECORA is sourced from Jingdezhen, a Chinese city known as the “cradle of Chinese porcelain” due to its history of producing high-quality porcelain for more than 1,700 years. The ceramic waste is collected from local factories, ground into fine powder and then transformed into high-performance plastic filler.

“Recycled ceramic has never been used in the consumer electronics industry,” says Shane Lee, General Manager of TCL’s Design Innovation Centre. “So TCL ECORA is totally unique. This eco-friendly solution enhances our products’ performance and builds on our TCLGreen initiatives, empowering consumers to live healthier, more comfortable and eco-conscious lives.”

As well as featuring in the back panel of its new NXTVision TV series, TCL ECORA is apparently set to feature in the design of more TVs in 2026, as well as air conditioning units and other product lines.

According to Chris Lefteri, founder of the world-renowned CMF and materials innovation company Chris Lefteri Design, “the ceramic [in TCL ECORA] creates a material with additional strength and greater density” that’s “cool, smooth and stone-like to the touch, redefining how consumer electronics and appliances can look and feel.”

As well as debuting ECORA in its NXTVision TVs, TCL is giving consumers the chance to experience a hands-on with the material in Milan’s Piazza del Duomo from December 6 2025 through to January 6 2026, as part of the brand’s sponsorship of the Duomo’s Christmas Tree and upcoming Milan Olympic Winter Games. The Duomo Christmas Tree event will feature a Christmas village in which there will be a showcase of products as well as the TCL ECORA material. It will also be on show at TCL’s booth at the 2026 CES trade show in Las Vegas, USA from January 6-9.

Not content with introducing an all-new eco-friendly TV back-panel for its NXTVision TVs, TCL has also used a pretty unusual material for these TVs’ remote controls: Recycled tea leaves. Though I wouldn’t recommend that anyone tries to test TCL’s claims on this by dipping the remotes in boiling water…
