Following the news last year of the Proplica Master Sword from the Zelda series, we now have more information about it, and it looks and sounds incredible.
Back in November, we didn’t have a release date or price point, but now we have both. My estimate of it being between 20,000 yen to 30,000 yen was pretty close, as the final price will be 22,000 yen (or around $141). The release date will also be this September, at least in Japan.
We also have more details on the size of this Proplica Master Sword. Specifically, that it clocks in at 105 cm (or around 41 inches). That is most certainly lifesize.
There’s also a nice blog post over on the Bandai Spirits site that shows off more of its features. Namely, the various sound and vibration effects. From swooshing and slicing sounds to music playback. This Proplica rendition also includes the Master Sword’s iconic scabbard as well as a display stand. All in all, it’s a pretty comprehensive package.
In terms of materials, it’s mostly using ABS plastic and nothing in the way of diecast. It’s also not clear if there will be able lighting gimmicks. After all, the Master Sword can glow when evil is nearby, at least in the more recent games.
However, the main standout thing for me is that the sculpt and detailing for this Proplica Master Sword are pristine and very accurate to how the sword is depicted in the Zelda games.
For me, that’s worth the price of entry and I will be definitely picking this up once it is released this September. You can also pre-order it from places such as HobbyLink Japan.
