The next pre wipe event in Escape From Tarkov has launched, and it isn’t the one that most people were expecting, so some believe that the wipe will not launch tomorrow as initially expected.
While all the details are still being confirmed, it looks like the new pre wipe event has given all AI scavs raider level gear and bosses have a 100% spawn rate on their respective maps.
The new pre-wipe event was teased on the official Escape From Tarkov social media accounts as it went live with an image showing a radar that multiple planes on it and boss loot. Some thought this meant airdrops would be increased given the radar image, but so far that doesn’t seem to be the case.
This event is also running alongside the others from earlier in the week that made all hideout upgrades available for beer and closed the flea market, which means Tarkov is a bit of a strange place right now.
However, the bad news is that this is not the pre wipe event many were expecting. Most players figured that today would see the start of the fire sale event where all items from traders are sold cheaply, which usually signals a wipe is coming the next day. With August 15 looking like the most likely wipe release date for some time, that theory has now been put into question with this event.
It would be very strange if the fire sale event did not happen at all given it almost always does, so even if that event kicks off tomorrow the earliest the wipe can now arrive is Friday, August 16. Releasing the wipe on a Friday would fit with the new schedule of traditional events that have been released over the weekend in recent weeks, so it’s not totally out of the question, but would be unusual.
Of course, until Battlestate Games give us a confirmed release date, this is all just speculation based on what has happened previously. We could be in for an extended pre-wipe and not get the new patch until next week.
But when the new wipe and patch does arrive, there are a few treats for Tarkov players, including the new boss who looks very cool and the new Deagle weapon. It should, hopefully, be much better than Arena Breakout Infinite, which seems to have botched its launch with pay to win microtransactions.
