Today’s NYT Mini Crossword Clues And Answers For Sunday, May 4th

In case you missed Saturday’s NYT Mini Crossword puzzle, you can find the answers here:

Lazy Sunday is here at last and I’m pretty prepared to take advantage of it, though I’m sure I’ll spend most of the day doing chores and working. I at least plan on blocking out the evening to binge some good shows and maybe getting some video game time in. Maybe since it’s May 4th—aka Star Wars Day—I’ll watch something Star Wars related, or hop back into Jedi Survivor.

I’ve been playing a bunch of great games lately but man oh man do they take time! I highly recommend both Blue Prince and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 to anyone who likes genuinely unique games. The former is perhaps the best puzzle game I’ve played since Myst and the latter is a terrific new take on the JRPG, made by a small French developer with so many cool new ideas.

In any case, we have a Mini Crossword to solve and I’m rambling on. Let’s get right to it!

The NYT Mini is a smaller, quicker, more digestible, bite-sized version of the larger and more challenging NYT Crossword, and unlike its larger sibling, it’s free to play on the New York Times website or NYT Games app. However, you’ll need an NYT Games subscription to access previous puzzles in the archives.

If you need a little help solving the Mini Crossword as fast as possible, read on for all of today’s answers.

Spoilers ahead!

ACROSS

1- Wines that Napa Valley is renowned for, informally — CABS

5- “Right away!” — ATONCE

8- School students — PUPILS

9- Make a mistake . . . or 8-Across backward — SLIPUP

10- Many a new driver — TEEN

DOWN

1- Items of clothing that may be worn backward — CAPS

2- ___ Gawande, surgeon with the #1 New York Times best seller “Being Mortal” — ATUL

3- Hasbro toy with a pull handle and a twistable crank — BOPIT

4- Criticize snarkily with “at” — SNIPE

6- You’re reading it — CLUE

7- Channel with “2” and “U” spinoffs — ESPN

A reasonably challenging Mini today, though fortunately 1-Across and 1-Down were pretty easy, and others like PUPILS basically give us the answer for SLIPUP. The toughest ones for me today were 5-Across (it took me a second to even realize what ATONCE means, but it’s “at once” obviously) and 2-Down, because I’m not familiar with Atul Gawande or “Being Mortal.” Still, I knocked this one out in 1:07. Not too shabby.

How did you do? Let me know on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook.

If you also play Wordle, I write guides about that as well. You can find those and all my TV guides, reviews and much more here on my blog. Thanks for reading!
