We’re back to my favorite day of the Wordle week, Wordle Wednesday! I enjoy this day more than the rest because it includes an extra challenge. Each Wednesday I give readers an extra puzzle, riddle or brain teaser to solve, and then on Thursdays I reveal the answer. Here’s today’s riddle:
Take me out of a window, and I leave a grieving wife. But stick me in a door, and I can save somebody’s life. What am I?
Let me know if you figure this one out on Twitter and Facebook. Now let’s do this Wordle!

Wordle Analysis
Every day I check Wordle Bot to see how I did. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.
I think I’ve just been a little too tired to get my brain working properly today. I started things off sore from some very hard working out the last couple days, and went promptly to a grueling hot yoga session. I woke up early thinking I had something to do, but the thing was cancelled and I couldn’t fall back asleep until right before I had to get up again. I’m beat! Tuckered out!
That’s what I blame getting this Wordle on 5 on, in any case. Vault I chose because the new Fallout series is coming out a day early and I can’t wait to watch it. From here, store seemed like a reasonable way to eliminate new letters and potentially move the ‘T’ into a green box. I did whittle 218 words down to just 5, but I wasn’t sure what to do next.
I chose troop rather foolishly at this point (sleep deprivation etc) and that still left me with two possible solutions: broth or froth. I chose the wrong one, but at least I got it in five and not worse!
Competitive Wordle Score
I lose 1 point for guessing in five and 1 point for losing to the Bot. -2 points for me today. Lame!
How To Play Competitive Wordle
Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
Today’s Wordle Etymology
The word ‘broth’ comes from the Old English broþ, which means “liquid in which something has been boiled.” It is related to the Old Norse bróð, the Danish brod, and the Old High German brod, all of which also refer to a liquid in which something has been cooked or boiled. These terms are believed to derive from the Proto-Germanic bruthan, meaning “to brew,” which itself comes from the Proto-Indo-European root bhreu- or bhru-, meaning “to boil, bubble, effervesce, burn.” This etymology highlights the process of cooking or boiling as central to the creation of broth, reflecting its role in various culinary traditions as a base for soups, stews, and other dishes.
