Today’s Wordle Review #1874 Hints And Answer, Thursday August 6

Looking for help with today’s Wordle? In this guide, we have some extra hints and clues to help you on your path to Wordle victory, plus a fun Bonus Wordle to solve while you’re at it. The answer is below as well, plus some Wordle Bot analysis and plenty more.

Since it’s Thor’s Day, that means yesterday was Odin’s Day (or Wednesday as we call it now) and I had an Odin-themed riddle for Wordle Wednesday. Now on Thor’s Day (aka Thursday) I will give you the answer. This is a riddle Odin presented to King Heithrek:

“From home I hied me, and from home faring I saw a way of ways: Was a way beneath and a way above, and ways there were on all sides. Alright guess now this riddle, Heithrek!”

Of what does Odin speak?

The answer? A bridge! A way beneath the bridge, a way above it, and ways on all sides.

And onto the Wordle we go!

Now that we can create our own custom Wordles, I’m including a bonus Wordle with each daily Wordle guide. These can be 4 to 7 letters long. Hopefully this is a fun extra challenge. Click the link below to play the Wordle I hand-crafted for you today.

Today’s Bonus Custom Wordle is 6 letters long.

The hint: Funny!

The clue: This Wordle ends with a “Y”.

Yesterday’s Custom Wordle Answer: THUNDER

Today’s Wordle Hints And Answer

  • Wordle Bot’s Starting Word: SLATE
  • My Starting Word Today: SLATE (121 words left)
  • The Hint: A complaint.
  • The Clue: This Wordle ends with a vowel.

Hints not enough, or curious to see if you did better than me on today’s Wordle? You can find the answer and read my Wordle Bot analysis and check out the current Competitive Wordle score between me, your humble Wordle guide, and the Wordle Bot below!

Today’s Wordle Answer: Thursday, August 6

Today’s Wordle Bot Analysis

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordle score with Wordle Bot right here.

SLATE was an okay opening word, and my second word was pretty close to the Wordle Bot’s (oddly, I chose GROPE and it chose GROIN and we’ll just leave it at that). Either way, the combination of these two words led to the Wordle: GRIPE, which is entirely fitting.

Competitive Wordle Score

We tie, so the Wordle Bot and I each get 1 point for guessing in three and nothing more. Our August totals inch up:

Erik: 6 points

Wordle Bot: 3 points

How To Play Competitive Wordle

  • Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
  • Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

“Gripe” comes from Old English grīpan, meaning “to grasp, seize, or clutch,” from a Germanic root also seen in grip. The modern sense of “to complain” developed much later, probably from the idea of something “gripping” or troubling a person.
