When Apple announced its latest product, the iPhone Pocket, it was met with mixed responses. Some loved it, some derided it. It seems that Apple may have got it right, though, because it’s almost sold out worldwide, just hours after release. Here’s where, at time of writing, it’s still available.
The iPhone Pocket has no electronics in it, but it’s an extra pocket, one where you can place your iPhone. Perhaps you’d want it because it means you no longer have to worry about your smartphone spoiling the line of your suit, for example.
The Pocket was designed in collaboration with leading Japanese fashion brand, Issey Miyake, and is the first time Apple has partnered with another brand since Hermes introduced Apple Watch bands. Of course, Apple still collaborates with Nike as well.
The iPhone Pocket, despite initial criticisms, is selling like hot cakes, and the fact that it’s a limited-edition product may mean that when it’s gone, it won’t be coming back.
It was already limited in where you could buy it. There are only 10 Apple Stores worldwide where you can buy it directly, though it is also for sale online through apple.com.
The stores are: Apple Canton Road, Hong Kong, Apple Ginza, Tokyo, Apple Jing’an, Shanghai, Apple Marché Saint-Germain, Paris, Apple Myeongdong, Seoul, Apple Orchard Road, Singapore, Apple Piazza Liberty, Milan, Apple Regent Street, London, Apple SoHo, New York City and Apple Xinyi A13, Taipei.
As a guide to where it’s selling out, I looked at international Apple websites.
The iPhone Pocket comes in two sizes, short and long. Long is available in three colors, sapphire, cinnamon and black. Short comes in eight shades: lemon, mandarin, purple, pink, peacock, sapphire, cinnamon and black.
All colors and both lengths are sold out in the U.S. and Japan.
In the U.K. the long Pocket is sold out, but short is available in lemon, cinnamon and sapphire. In France, there are no long Pockets left, but short is available in lemon, purple, pink, peacock, cinnamon, sapphire and black.
Korea has the sapphire Pocket in the longer length, but with a two-week delivery expectation, and short Pockets in all eight colors, lemon, mandarin, purple, pink, peacock, cinnamon, sapphire and black. The Singapore store is sold out in long but has all colors in short apart from peacock.
I’ll update this list but realistically if you want an iPhone Pocket, don’t delay.
