A Euro-wide survey examining transport and mobility trends has found that 70% of Londoners want more Low Traffic Neighbourhoods (LTNs) and that a majority agreed that most roads across Greater London should have a 20mph speed limit.
Now in its third year, the Cyclomedia Urban Road Safety Index examined transport trends and road safety opinions in 32 European cities, including London, where 1,035 people were questioned.
Perceptions of safety, active travel, plus laws and rules regarding road safety were all examined.
When asked what Transport for London could do to improve road safety, the answer from 54% of respondents was “better separation between road, cycle and bus lanes.”
Cyclomedia produces 3D visualizations of urban streets, capturing images of over 528,000 miles of roads every year. Urban planners use the service to examine and assess risk conditions, prioritize roadway maintenance and manage assets including traffic signs, lighting and other public infrastructure. Its 360° panoramic street-level imagery and Lidar data for building 3D digital twins is used by customers such as the London Borough of Harrow.
Cyclomedia’s survey was carried out by independent research agency Multiscope in June across 32 European cities with 12,000 respondents.
