Today is the very first 2XP Friday of 2024. Huzzah! This means that if you’re playing Competitive Wordle with me—or, rather, against me and/or the Wordle Bot—you can earn twice as many points . . . or lose twice as many points, depending on how slick your guessing game is.
Here in my hometown, up in the mountains, we got our first snowfall of the year. Just a couple of inches, but it’s icy out there. Driving conditions were so bad, numerous accidents led to freeway closures, but the school district—in its infinite wisdom—still didn’t delay the first day of school. I guess a full day of school is more important than the safety of kids, parents, teachers and staff!
I’m not bitter.
In any case, it’s quite cold and next week will be even colder, with barely a day above freezing. Winter has arrived, lords and ladies of Westeros.

Wordle Bot Analysis
After each Wordle I solve I head over to the Wordle Bot homepage to see how my guessing game was.
I picked guard today because I was thinking about the latest Epic Games Store freebie, Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy, and guard seemed like a great opening word. It was! I had a yellow and green box and later learned I had just 14 possible solutions remaining.
Boink—which I use often as a second guess, and which I find quite hilarious—slashed that number to just 1, and soon I was doing reverse lunges in joy. Huzzah!
