Adidas has announced its lightest super shoe yet, the Adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3.
Its headline stat is the shoe weighs less than 100g, clocking in at 97g in a UK size 8.5, equivalent a US 9.5.
“Our goal was two digits on the scale, with better performance than we’ve ever had,” says Stephan Scholten, Adidas vice president of product.
One key element here is the shoe’s reformulated Lightstrike foam, Lightstrike Pro Evo, which Adidas says weighs 50 per cent less than previous generations.
It’s a significant drop in weight even compared to the Adios Pro Evo 2 pair, announced a year ago in April 2025. They weigh 138g in a US size 9.5.
It also has the stats to avoid disqualification in professional races, with a stack height of 39mm. The World Athletics limit for road racing shoes is 40mm.
The Adios Pro Evo 3 have a minimal 3mm drop, measuring 36mm tall at the forefoot.
The Adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3 Strategy
Adidas claims “11% greater forefoot energy” and up to 1.6% improved overall running economy. They have a minimal Continental rubber outsole and are, of course, a carbon plated pair.
The shoes arrive just in time for the London Marathon on April 26, although it’s highly unlikely you’ll be able to get hold of a pair for the race. While Adidas says a limited number of pairs will be available on April 25 from the Adidas website and “speciality retailers,” this announcement is likely timed to allow for Adidas elite athletes to wear the shoes during the marathon.
Last year’s London Marathon was won by Sebastian Sawe, wearing a pair of the Adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo 2 shoes, with a time of 2:02:27
“We went through more than a dozen iterations, working closely with our athletes and testing everywhere from our labs in Herzogenaurach to high-altitude camps in Kenya and Ethiopia,” says Patrick Nava, general manager of Adidas’s running division.
“It was a long process, but it’s led to something we believe genuinely changes what a race-day shoe can feel like.”
The shoes cost $500, which will no doubt sound ridiculous to some runners, but this matches the cost of last year’s Adios Pro Evo 2 from 2025.
The Adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3 will get a wider release in the fall.
