Today’s ‘Wordle’ #1387 Hints, Clues And Answer For Sunday, April 6th

Looking for Saturday’s Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here:

It’s finally looking like warmer weather ahead, which I’m very much ready for after all the cold, snowy days we’ve had this month. I’m not complaining. I complained all winter about how unseasonably warm and dry it’s been. But I am ready for balmier days. In the meantime, there’s a Wordle to solve!

How To Solve Today’s Wordle

The Hint: Like a mansion, often associated with the sea.

The Clue: This Wordle has a double letter.

Okay, spoilers below!

The Answer:

Wordle Analysis

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.

BLADE was decent, leaving me with 91 remaining words, though I wish HOIST had cut it down to less than 11. Far too many left to get it on three without pure luck. Thankfully, ANVIL squashed the remaining possible solutions and left me with just one: VILLA for the win!

Competitive Wordle Score

I really hoped the Bot would take four tries with this rather tricky word, but I was out of luck. I get 0 points for guessing in four and -1 for losing to the Bot. The Bot gets 1 point for guessing in three and another for beating me. This brings us to April totals of:

Erik: -5 points

Wordle Bot: 7 points

How To Play Competitive Wordle

  • Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
  • Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word “villa” comes from Latin. In classical Latin, villa referred to a country house or estate, typically owned by wealthy Romans. It could range from a luxurious rural retreat to a working farm. The Latin villa itself likely comes from vicus, meaning village or settlement. Over time, the term evolved in Romance languages to mean a large, often luxurious house, especially in the countryside or near the coast, and that’s how it’s commonly used today.
