We’ve had a chance to look at the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro design thanks to the leaks of several third-party cases and a full set of machined blanks. Now, we have a clean look at four production models and the new colourways of this year’s iPhone upgrade.
The new images come from longtime Apple leaker Sonny Dickson and offer our best look at the rear of the upcoming iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
The two different arrangements of camera lenses for the Pro and Vanilla handsets are clear. All four models now have a vertical arrangement of two lenses, an arrangement made to support the recording of spatial videos that can play back in the Apple Vision Pro in 3D. The third periscope-styled telephoto lens of the 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max sits comfortably on the camera island on the more expensive models.
We can’t see the new Capture Button being added to all of this year’s models. This is a capacitive button that should act as a focus and shitter button for the camera application. This joins last year’s user-definable Action Button available on the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. It will be available across all four models this year, and sharp-eyed watchers will see the merest thing of the Action Button above the volume keys of the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Finally, three of the seven colours that will be available are on show: the traditional black (which Apple loves to label as space grey) and two pastel shades of pink and violet. The current iPhone 15 is offered in black, blue, green, pink, and yellow. Violet would be one of the new colors. White will also join the line-up as a new option, making seven in total.
