Baseus announced a new pair of open earbuds, the Bowie MC2, in June 2026. They offer upgraded sound, long battery life, and a more comfortable design. While they launched at $80, Amazon is now selling them for as low as $50. I’ve worn them for a month and here’s why I think they’re more impressive than ever.
At 5.1g per earbud, the Bowie MC2 are light and their clip-on design means most of that weight is located in the part that sits behind your ear. The speaker unit, which sits on the ear canal, features removable silicone ear cushions. It offers better comfort, especially during long listening sessions. I wore them for short workouts and evening walks, and didn’t have a problem apart from occasional fit adjustments due to sweat.
The MC2 open earbuds are IP67-rated for dust and water resistance. This means they can handle sweat and rain. Once you start sweating, the fit remains secure, but the earbuds tend to slide around and require adjustment for the best sound experience.
The new Baseus open earbuds feature slightly larger 11mm drivers (versus the 10.8mm drivers found in the MC1 Pro). They support AAC, SBC, and LDAC audio codecs, as well as multipoint Bluetooth pairing, so you can connect them to two devices simultaneously.
Baseus’ Bowie MC2 open earbuds sound cleaner, with decent bass and treble response alongside a bigger soundstage, despite competing with ambient noise because of their clip-on design. I could hear my surroundings while listening to my playlist on walks. They have two microphones per bud and, in my testing, callers told me my voice was clear with minimal background noise.
I’m glad to report that Baseus offers physical controls instead of unreliable touch panels. Each MC2 bud has a small button to help you control playback and adjust the volume. Plus, these controls (and the equalizer) can be customized in the Baseus companion app.
The best part about the Baseus Bowie MC2 is the battery life. These clip-on buds can last up to 11.5 hours at moderate volume levels (with Bass Boost enabled) and are claimed to deliver up to 13 hours if you don’t use the available Super Bass mode. This can be extended to up to 55 hours with the charging case. Baseus also offers a quick-charge feature that gives you three hours of listening from a 10-minute charge.
The Bowie MC2 open earbuds launched at $80 but are currently selling for $60 on Amazon. You can get another $10 off with the promo code MC2OWSPR, which brings the price down to $50, making them one of the best options in their category.
