Fortnite is celebrating Christmas in a few different days, bringing back its Winterfest event and presents to open and such, but also with something…unique, shall we say.
There is now a giant ice block in the middle of the Fortnite map that is slowing melting/shattering and if you’ve been paying attention, or know anything about particularly Christmas song-belting divas, you’ll know that a giant Mariah Carey is inside. No, I am not joking.
Datamining has already confirmed that is exactly who is inside the ice block, and we already have a look at her skin.
Mariah Carey’s skin is supposed to be coming to Fortnite tomorrow, Friday, December 20, so it seems the ice block is going to be destroyed before that point, leading to a giant…Mariah Carey on the map with her famous earworm Christmas song in tow, All I Want for Christmas is you.
Mariah Carey herself showing up in Fortnite might be pretty random, but this is a game that just added Skibidi Toilet (back blind that Mariah Carey will be able to wear tomorrow as she gets in gunfights with Eminem and Snoop Dogg). But the ice block is a specific reference to a specific meme where she broke out of an ice block in essentially the same way as what’s happening here.
We know that there is a Mariah Carey All I Want for Christmas emote that will be arriving at the same time, featuring the song that you may or may not be sick of already. What’s not clear is whether or not it’s free. Some leakers say you may only be able to use it near her on the map. I wonder if this might be a limited time thing if Epic didn’t want to play for the rights for the (very popular) song indefinitely, but who knows.

Yeah, it’s become quite a list. I think musicians are the largest category of icon skins over actors, athletes and streamers. The have added a bunch more since Fortnite Festival became a thing. I’d say that Mariah Carey is one of the only “past generation” ones added here outside of Metallica. Maybe Snoop, I guess? But he’s still everywhere.
