Free Streaming Service Freely Adds Four New Content Partners

Free Streaming Service Freely Adds Four New Content Partners

Everyone TV, the company behind the U.K.’s free-to-air Freeview and Freesat broadcast services, has announced today that it has added four new content partners to its recently launched Freely streaming service, meaning the platform now offers UK TV viewers more than 40 streamed live channels and 74,000 hours of on-demand programming.

Freely is a relatively new addition to the streaming landscape, having launched in April 2024 predominantly as a way of providing U.K. viewers with live streamed versions of many of the country’s most popular TV channels, avoiding the need for a traditional aerial or satellite dish. The addition announced today of AMCNI UK, PBS America, GB News and QVC, though, adds more diversity to Freely’s content offering, as well as simply bolstering the sheer number of channels and on-demand hours Freely users have access to.

AMCNI UK is a joint venture with Paramount Global that runs a portfolio of genre-themed free-to-air entertainment channels in the U.K. – including the action based Legend channel and the self-explanatory True Crime channel – alongside a ‘WATCH FREE UK’ app.

PBS America will carry a schedule of documentaries and factual content across both an on-demand app and a live Freely channel. Its titles include the work of renowned documentarian of US culture Ken Burns, as well as current affairs programming from the award-winning Frontline team. PBS America also has a growing reputation for acquiring public service history programming from around the world.

More news, more shopping

GB News is the most recent addition to the UK news landscape, claiming to offer a different take on current affairs to the U.K.’s more established news channels, while the long-running QVC platform, finally, will be bringing two of its U.K. TV shopping channels to Freely alongside a QVC+ on-demand player.

The primary QVC channel is promised to provide 16 live hours of retail programming a day, while the second new Freely channel, cunningly named QVC2, will run shows specifically dedicated to style, garden and beauty products.

The four new channels join UKTV and public service broadcasters BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, STV and S4C on the all-streamed Freely platform, with further smart TV, OS providers and content partners still being promised for the future.

Freely is currently available on recently launched UK TV models from Hisense, Bush, Toshiba, Sharp, TCL, Amazon Fire ad Panasonic.

“These new collaborations mark a significant milestone,” says Jonathan Thompson, CEO at Everyone TV, “as Freely continues to redefine the streaming experience, offering something for everyone, with content across a variety of genres. From groundbreaking storytelling to rich historical programming and an engaging shopping experience, we are excited to offer an increasingly competitive free viewing experience with these new channels and on demand players. We look forward to continued collaboration across the industry, bringing even more entertaining and engaging content to Freely.”
