On May 23, Aaron Perris from MacRumors spotted an FCC filing for a new pair of Apple headphones — full details here. At the time, I thought it was going to be a pair of Beats headphones, rather than new AirPods.
Fast-forward to May 30, when Lamine Yamal, Spanish national soccer team player, posted a series of images and a video on Instagram, showing his arrival at training camp before the 2026 FIFA World Cup which starts next month. Yamal is oh-so-casually sporting a new pair of Beats headphones.
Are These The Mystery Missing Headphones?
The headphones don’t actually say A3577 (the moniker for the mystery cans found on the FCC database), but I believe that’s what they are.
And they are certainly eye-catching, because they look unlike any other Beats headphones. They are different in terms of their design, and the sultry pale pink colorway is all-new.
The shape includes big, flat earcups and what appear to be tubular arms that telescope rather than the traditional Beats flatter arms.
An Intentional Apple Product Tease
So, what can we know about all this?
And if it had been an accident, you can be certain the Instagram post would have been taken down again in seconds. At the time of writing, there have been more than 2.7 million likes for the post.
In other words, these are genuine Beats headphones and this is how the world learns about them.
Second, Beats is saying that yes, pink is absolutely a color men can wear (I mean, I’m hoping they aren’t only meant for soccer players).
There are no more details, such as the name, the price or the release date, but I’d imagine there will be a more conventional announcement in the coming days, to maximize on the publicity generated here.
I’ll update this post as more details become known.
