‘Path Of Exile 2’ Patch Notes: Armor, Unique And Endgame Buffs, Monster Nerfs

Path of Exile 2 has just released a massive list of changes in today’s patch, which is not live yet as I’m writing this, but hopefully will be soon. They previewed a lot of these bigger changes in videos and livestreams earlier this week, but now we get the full list and it is…enormous.

As such, I figured I would pull out what I consider to be the biggest highlights of the patch which most players will come across when playing. Even in a summary, there’s still a lot to get through, and you can read all the notes here if you want.

ENDGAME

  • There are four new tower maps areas to make those segments a bit less dull, including revamping the existing one.
  • You can now have up to six respawn attempts for Arbiter of Ash, but you cannot leave the area once you start. There are some nerfs to Arbiter of Ash’s moveset that should make him a bit less punishing.
  • Maps now have a minimum of three rare monsters in them. Buffs have been made to various maps in terms of monster density, chests, number of rare and magic monsters, essences, strongboxes, shrines and all of this is without specific Waystone or Tower modifiers.
  • There are far more Boss nodes plus a new tablet that can spawn more Bosses in a given area. Bosses will now drop fewer Waystones when killed because there are more of them on the map (boo). There are 15% fewer monsters in Breaches.
  • Citadels are now closer to the middle and can be seen in the fog with a beam of light. You can now zoom out more on the map. World map loading time improved.
  • Reduced visual clutter on maps for better visibility.

SKILLS

  • Scavenged plating now grants more stacks depending on the type of monster you killed.
  • Supercharged Slam no longer has uncapped radius for aftershocks, capped to 3 meters.
  • Choir of the Storm’s amulet no longer uses its triggered greater lightning bolts to trigger subsequent ones if the first was a critical hit. It now does 3.5x more damage than a normal lighting bolt.
  • The Temporalis body armor can’t reduce the cooldown of a skill to below 100ms.
  • Skills socketed in a Meta Gem’s socket can no longer gain energy.
  • Armor is now 15% more effective.

MONSTERS

  • They now have increased toughness per Essence modifier on them. Essence Monolith monsters have delayed attacks after spawning.
  • Forsaken Miners throw fewer grenades that do less damage. Rudja, the Dread Engineer’s grenades deal less damage.
  • Faridum Plaguebringers have their Detonate Dead distance reduced. Lost-Men Zealots have their Meteor skill distance reduced. Lightning storm from Zealots are now properly telegraphed.
  • Filthy Crone no longer uses projectile vomit point blank in front of you. Bog Hulks and Rotting Hulks vomit does less damage. Vile Vulture cannot leap as far. Vaal Axemen have shorter throwing distance.
  • Changes to boss damage area to match visuals for Bloated Miller, Zalmarath the Colossus, Bahlak the Sky Seer, Executioner. Reduced damage for Mighty Silverfist roll.
  • Prowling Shades go invisible less. They spawn less often.
  • Chaos Pustules in Ritals have had visuals improved. Volatile Plants are more noticeable before and during their explosion.
  • Elemental explosion caused by minion death or those cast by a rare monster have visual effects improved and have more of a delay.
  • More monsters can now be pushed when dodge rolling, most monsters smaller than a skeleton.
  • Energy Shield enemy modifiers have been reduced.

EVERYTHING ELSE

  • Strongboxes spawn waves more quickly, its fog fades faster when done, Research Strongbox chance increased, visuals improved on Strongbox-spawned monsters.
  • Charms now play an effect when used and have a counter.
  • Runes in gear can now be overwritten by other Runes (the old Runes are destroyed).
  • Reduced chance for some items to roll terrible modifiers.
  • Higher level Expedition Vendor shops now have higher level rarity items. You will need to reroll shops to get this to trigger after this patch.
  • Uncut Gems show their level on the item label.
  • Item filters are available on console.

UNIQUES

I cannot list them all here. Essentially every Unique in the game has been buffed to some extent making them more usable at all levels, but especially during the leveling process. You can read the full enormous list in the patch notes here.

Hopefully this is live soon, and it may be by the time you read this.
