Following Motorola’s huge Razr discount and Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro price drop, the Samsung Galaxy S24 series has now been relaunched at a lower price via its “Certified Renewed” scheme.
The refurbishment scheme, which launched in 2017, essentially brings back an older flagship with replaced hardware and a software update. The “certified” part, Samsung says, guarantees a level of quality, while the newly upcycled handset comes with a one-year warranty.
The restoration process includes; expert quality checks, replacement of key components like the battery with genuine parts and thorough testing for like-new performance. The key here is using genuine parts and Samsung’s techs doing the work.
Third-party repairs might throw in “aftermarket” components that vary in quality. And, of course, independent shops don’t offer a manufacturer’s warranty. However, you will pay for all of that effort, despite the 20% discount. Here’s how much each refurbished Galaxy S24 costs.

Samsung will knock up to $617 off additionally if you trade in an old device. The company’s notoriously high trade-in valuations are slightly muted in this promotion because the Galaxy S24 is already discounted, but there are some decent prices here.

The $617 price is reserved for the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which is a trade no one sane would make. Also, Samsung devices are not accepted for this trade-in promotion. What piqued my interest was the fact that Samsung will pay at least $250 for a wide selection of defunct phones, such as the Microsoft Surface Duo, old Pixel handsets and select devices from Alcatel, OnePlus, Motorola and LG.
Keep in mind that this is a 20% discount off the original retail price for an older device with one year of software support already used (with six years remaining).
