Premium headphone and earbud maker Sennheiser has announced three new products in the brand’s highly regarded Momentum range. The new models are the Momentum True Wireless 4, Accentum Plus headphones and Momentum Sport earbuds, all making their debut this week at CES 2024 in Las Vegas.
The new releases are all designed and made under license by hearing-aid giant Sonoma AG, which took on Sennheiser’s consumer audio portfolio last year. Leaving the German parent company of Sennheiser to concentrate on its professional audio products. So far, the arrangement has been a success, with plenty of new releases and consumer awards.
Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4
The new Momentum True Wireless 4 are the most advanced consumer earbuds from Sennheiser and include more than a dozen enhancements over the popular Momentum True Wireless 3 model. The earbuds support Qualcomm’s S5 Sound Gen 2 platform and Snapdragon Sound Technology with aptX lossless audio codec and ultra-low latency for movie watching and gaming.
Adopting the latest Bluetooth 5.4 standard, the Momentum True Wireless 4 will also include Auracast support for mass broadcasting, enabling users to tune into the audio from a TV or information display in a public area. The antennas in the earbuds have been overhauled for improved reception while moving around.
Sennheiser’s Adaptive ANC has also been tweaked, while upgraded batteries in each earpiece now deliver 7.5 hours of continuous listening. The charging case is Qi wireless compatible, or the earbuds can be fast-charged using a USB-C cable.
Pricing & Availability: The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 earbuds will be available in three colorways; black copper, metallic silver, and graphite. Pre-orders will be taken from February 15 and the price will be $299.99 / £259.99 / €299.99.
Sennheiser Accentum Plus
The new ACCENTUM Plus over-the-ear wireless headphones offer premium headphone listening at an affordable price point. The Bluetooth 5.2 headphones have Sennheiser’s usual high-quality sound, extended battery life and flexible connectivity.
The new headphones support all popular codecs, including aptX Adaptive, for high-quality sound with Android devices. With up to 50 hours of continuous listening time on a single charge, the Accentum Plus will be popular with frequent flyers.
The Accentum Plus headphones also feature a touch-enabled earcup, as used in Sennheiser’s flagship Momentum headphones, with intuitive controls without buttons or menus.
The Accentum Plus have multipoint connectivity, wind-reduction and an adjustable sidetone for making phone calls. Adaptive ANC optimizes the filtering of unwanted noise and constantly adjusts to adapt to changes in the ambient noise environment. The ANC reduces distractions in busy work environments or on a train or plane.
For times when wireless listening is not possible, Sennheiser has also included an audio cable with the Accentum Plus, which can, for example, be used with in-flight entertainment systems or other headphone outputs. The headphones ship with their zippered travel case.
Pricing & Availability: The Sennheiser Accentum Plus wireless ANC headphones will be available in black and white finishes and will begin shipping on February 20. The price is $199.99 / £199.99 / €229.99.
Sennheiser Momentum Sport
These new sporting wireless earbuds offer real-time biometric feedback. Sennheiser says the earbuds have been optimized for fitness and sporting use. Integrating a photoplethysmography (PPG) heart rate sensor and a body temperature sensor, the Momentum Sport can output critical data to popular fitness apps and devices.
Momentum Sport’s heart rate data integrates seamlessly with many popular sporting devices and apps, such as Apple Watch, Health, Garmin Watch, Connect, Strava, Peloton and more. For the first time in a non-Polar product, users can enjoy full access to Polar’s biosensing capabilities and data analytics—including body temperature—offering real-time insights during training and deeper offline analysis using the Polar Flow app ecosystem.
To minimize footstep noise, breathing and other body-borne distractions like microphonics, the earbuds have an acoustic relief channel and semi-open design for more natural awareness of surroundings. An adjustable Transparency mode, Anti-wind mode and Adaptive Noise Cancelling mode enable the wearer to adapt as their surroundings change.
The earbuds feature a new acoustic system with a redesigned transducer for improved sound quality. There is an IP55 sweat and water resistance rating, shock-proof chassis and clog-resistant ear tips. Momentum Sport earbuds are designed to withstand the punishment of vigorous workouts.
The IP54-rated and Qi-enabled carrying case can store up to three additional complete earbud recharges, extending the playback time from 6 to 24 hours. A quick charge feature provides up to 45 minutes of playback from just 10 minutes of USB-C charging.
Pricing & Availability: Sennheiser’s Momentum Sport will be available from April 9th. The earbuds will cost $299.99 / £259.99 / €329.99 and will ship in three colorways: polar black, burned olive, and metallic graphite.
