As of today, the current wipe in Escape From Tarkov is the longest ever, clocking in at a total of 226 days. However, the development team have acknowledged this fact and said they are working 24/7 on the new wipe and patch to make sure it releases soon.
The last Escape From Tarkov wipe took place on December 27 2023, which makes it 226 since it launched, overtaking last year’s first wipe in terms of length. The December 2022 to August 2023 wipe, which previously held the record, clocked in at 225 days and was already considered by many to be too long. But now we have an even longer one and fans are starting to become impatient.
Nikita Buyanov, game director on Escape From Tarkov, has acknowledged on X, formerly Twitter, that this is now the longest wipe ever and confirmed that the team is working 24/7 on the new patch so that the new wipe can begin as soon as possible.
However, he did not give any indication of a date, and the fact that so much work seems to still be going on is somewhat concerning. We are still waiting for the end of wipe events to kick off, and weirdly there is no in game event happening this weekend, causing some fans to worry that the wipe could be further away than expected. There was also the weird issue where player’s inventories were wiped earlier this week, in what many people think was a test that went wrong and could further delay the release of the wipe.
Almost everyone expects the next wipe to launch in the next week or so, with August 15 looking like the most likely date. But the wipe issue last week and the news that the team is still working around the clock to finish the patch could see it pushed back even further. We know that Battlestate Games is no stranger to pushing things back until they are ready, so it could be an even longer wait than anticipated.
But when the wipe does launch it should have some big changes for Tarkov fans to play. We know that the new factory map and hideout changes are coming, while there is also likely to be a brand new boss and further changes yet to be revealed. Then there will be a Twitch Drops campaign shortly after the wipe launches, which could give you a head start when it comes to unlocking top tier loot.
