Over the past week or so, I’ve been playing the new Into the Abyss DLC for Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion, and it’s been a lot of fun.
Like many of us guessed, that massive triangular-looking door near where the generic Rebellion colossus spawns was indeed an entrance to a new area.
This new area, called Locus Initi, is full of much more powerful enemies (often with an “omega” suffix) that drop new parts and new weapons, as well as new scrap.
Honestly, I’ve spent most of my time just farming all the new enemies, and I’ve already got some new assault rifles, called Rearguard, that already outclass the previous best rifles in the game, the boss development drop Lost Heart.
So at least that makes me happy.
We also now have level 4 (yellow) and level 5 (red) attachments, and these make an even bigger difference on the parts you equip.
In short, just this new area alone is enough to keep me very busy for a good while to come, but we also get omega variants of other colossus bosses, such as Dreadnought, Gunfort, and Rebellion. Even the Snatcher train from the first game makes a comeback.
In addition to the above, we also get a new set of missions that have you delve deeper into this new area, defeat new bosses, and unlock another new section that’s behind three energy force fields (which I won’t spoil here).
While the new missions are nice, as are the new bosses, I am just enjoying going through this new area and farming attachments, new scrap, and parts like crazy.
Like I said in my review, this game is very much a diamond in the rough. You need to stick with it for it to really reveal its greatness, and this DLC is very much an extension of that.
In any case, I have a whole new area of Titanic Scion to play with, and I am going to really make the most of this before the last free DLC drops in December.
