Somehow, UFC 300 lived up to the hype.
It was billed as the greatest card in MMA history, and the action was everything fans could have wanted. We didn’t see official titles change hands as Alex Pereira and Zhang Weili successfully defended their titles.
However, we saw a new BMF champion emerge spectacularly as Max Holloway dethroned Justin Gaethje in one of the most amazing endings you’ll ever see in combat sports.
In case you missed it, take a look:
Holloway’s explosive buzzer-beater KO and near wall-to-wall dominance of Gaethje was worth the $300,000 Performance of the Night bonus UFC CEO Dana White promised during the event’s pre-event press conference.
Holloway was the big winner of the night, walking away with $600,000 in total bonuses. He and Gaethje also won a bonus for Fight of the Night. The other bonus was given to Jiri Prochazka for his second-round TKO win over Aleksandr Rakic.
Prochazka is trying to inch back to another title shot at 205 pounds. Pereira, the man Prochazka lost to in a battle for the vacant title in 2023, was dominant in his first-round victory over Jamahal Hill in the UFC 300 main event.
The Brazilian shook off an obvious kick to the cup and halted referee Herb Dean’s attempted intervention, only to knock Hill out with a left uppercut seconds later. The finish was insanely impressive, and considering the ease of execution, Pereira could make the argument that he was more deserving of the bonus than Prochazka.
After all, before Prochazka scored the KO win over Rakic, it appeared the latter was winning the fight.
Rakic had won the first round on all three judges’ scorecards.
In any case, Prochazka won and received additional cash for his efforts.
According to White, Deiveson Figueiredo, Renato Moicano, Diego Lopes, and Kayla Harrison will also receive undisclosed bonuses for their stoppage wins. Here is a look at the results of all the fights on the card.
