How Did Gabriel Bonfim Beat Belal Muhammad?
Bonfim’s size, speed and technical striking proved too much for Muhammad. The former champion did not push his wrestling as he did earlier in his career, and he chose to back up in an attempt to utilize his improved but still inferior striking.
That approach didn’t pay off for Muhammad as he was beaten up and soundly defeated by the welterweight division’s next real title contender.

Bonfim’s calf kicks were a recurring weapon, repeatedly forcing Muhammad to switch stances, while his pressure kept the former champion from leaning on the grappling that defined his title run.
