With the Japanese summer in full swing, with intense heat and humidity, fans made their way to Makuhari Messe to enjoy Wonder Festival 2026 Summer.
Compared to the winter event earlier this year, today’s showing had a lot more Patlabor than previous years. Not least because anime like Patlabor EZY are underway.
There was also a nice little model kit awards section covering various builds from Patlabor, all of which were rather wonderful (shown below).
Good Smile Company also had a large presence, too. However, not in a typically direct way, with a large booth. No doubt because they already had one a few months back.
Obviously, things like Dandivine were present, but it now seems that the always impressive CCS Toys are now working with Good Smile Company.
If you’ve not been keeping up with the toy scene in Asia, you may not know of CCS Toys. They are a China-based company that makes very high-end (and very heavy) diecast mecha toys.
I have quite a few of their releases, all of which are genuinely impressive pieces of craftsmanship.
Apart from that, I got to see the frankly massive SMP Balteus kit from Armored Core VI. It was present at the winter event, but this mockup had all the missile pods laid out. It was genuinely unnervingly large (shown above).
The new Pose+ releases were also lovely, and I’m really looking forward to when their Go-Saurer chogokin gets released.
The fan showing was always wonderful, and it was obviously Patlabor heavy, but there were some nice Vifam and Brave series kits on display.
It will also be interesting to see what CCS Toys will do next, now that they are working with Good Smile Company.
