I’m a remote worker who needs to work on the go. This requires me to travel with a lot of tech accessories including several wires, power banks, chargers, and more. If you are like me, who wants to keep the luggage as light as possible but don’t want to miss out on anything important, these tech accessories from the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) are worth looking at.
Espresso 17 Pro
If you have a multi-screen setup at home and miss it while traveling, Espresso 17 Pro could come in handy. It features a 17.3-inch display with a 4K resolution, 450 nits of brightness and a 60Hz refresh rate. In my brief time, the screen looked sharp and colorful. I was pleasantly surprised by how thin it was – at 8.89mm. For reference, the iPhone 15 Pro measures 8.25mm in thickness.
The touch screen supports stylus input, so you can plug it into your MacBook and annotate on files. You can buy one for $749, which includes the device and a stand, which magnetically attaches to the Espresso 17 Pro and helps adjust the height and angle. There’s also an Espresso Charge, which is a 32,000mAh battery pack for your laptop and display. It attaches magnetically to the bottom of the stand but you’ll have to buy it separately for $199.
ESR 3-in-1 Travel Wireless Charging Set (HaloLock)
If you have the trio of Apple Watch, iPhone and AirPods, you might want a 3-in-1 wireless charger. But these kinds of chargers aren’t portable, so you can’t travel with them. However, the ESR 3-in-1 Travel Wireless Charging Set (HaloLock) changes this. You can plug out the Apple Watch charger and collapse the iPhone charger flat, so it becomes portable and easy to slide into the backpack.
It comes with a case that allows you to keep the wire, Apple Watch wireless charging unit and the charger together when you’re on the go. The removable part has Type-C port that can also be plugged in to your laptop to charge the Apple Watch. It costs $70 and is available for purchase.
Baseus Free2Pull Retractable USB-C Cable 100W
Typically, I store my cables in a travel case that I place inside my carry-on luggage during flights. But most of the time I leave the case in the bag and put it inside the cabin above my head. And when I need a wire, I need to get up from my seat to get it. It’s an inconvenience that I want to let go of but I also want long cables simultaneously because they help when the charging port is away from your work desk. And that is exactly why I like the Baseus Free2Pull Retractable USB-C Cable.
It is a 1m long cable that contracts into a small form factor. I like that you don’t have to push it back, but you can pull and release the wire instantly to retract inside the case. The wire supports PD charging at up to 100W, so you’re not limited by proprietary charging tech from a specific company. At 50 grams, it’s light, small, and can be put inside pockets. It isn’t a CES 2024 launch though, and is already available at $22.
Torras 5,000mAh MagSafe power bank
I’ve tried a few MagSafe-supported power banks on my iPhone 14 Pro Max and the iPhone 15 Pro but I’ve always found them insufficient. The two major issues I face are battery capacity and thickness. If a MagSafe power bank has 5,000mAh capacity it’s usually thick and detaches whenever I try to put it in my pocket or it’s thin and doesn’t have more than one charges inside it. But the Torras 5,000mAh MagSafe power bank is different.
It offers a 5,000mAh battery capacity and is thin enough to not feel uncomfortable when kept inside your pant pockets. Moreover, it’s got a 360-degree rotatable stand in the form of a ring, which can be used to tilt the phone in any angle when watching videos. The device is available for purchase at $74.
Torras also announced the Coolify Cyber – a comfortable personal air conditioner. It offers three speed settings and a newer double vent design to keep it cool when it’s cooling you. The device also offers heating to keep your neck warm during winters. It is all set to be launched in March 2024.
